Awarded Amount: $38,000

Summary of Innovation

Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) has developed the AIquatic Aquafeeder (AAF), a solar-powered automatic feeding system that optimizes prawn aquaculture through automation and AI. By analyzing prawn size and weight, the AAF system delivers precise feeding, reducing waste and improving prawn growth while minimizing environmental impact. With ABIC support, UTB will finalize the AAF prototype and train local farmers to adopt this innovative technology.

Over the next six months, UTB plans to deploy the AAF system at prawn farms, targeting a 10% reduction in feed usage, a 15% improvement in water quality, and a 10% increase in prawn growth. Within two years, the team plans to have the AAF system adopted across Brunei Darussalam's aquaculture farms, creating jobs and improving operational efficiency. UTB also aims to expand the system regionally by partnering with organizations in Indonesia and the Philippines to promote sustainable aquaculture practices.
